HFHC is a community health center providing affordable primary and preventive health care services to all people in need, including the insured, uninsured and the underinsured. Patients without insurance are seen on a sliding-fee scale based on income. No patient is ever denied because of inability to pay.
“This is a tremendous addition to the already-innovative rural healthcare infrastructure in Phillips County,” commented Doug Friedlander, executive director of the Phillips County Chamber of Commerce. “The Helena Family Health Center will offer Phillips County residents affordable access to quality healthcare, especially the 24 percent of our citizens that are uninsured.”
HFHC will expand healthcare availability to 2,825 patients in Phillips County including affordable primary care to low-income, uninsured, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients living the county. It also will provide preventive services such as health education dealing with chronic diseases, nutrition counseling and WIC services while working with other local health care providers.
“I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community,” said Dr. Susan Ward-Jones, CEO of East Arkansas Family Health Center. Jones was born and raised in Phillips County.
“I am so pleased that our organization has the opportunity to bring a much-needed healthcare entity to Helena-West Helena, a community near and dear to my hear,” she added
The Helena Family Health Center is a new outreach of the East Arkansas Family Health Center based in West Memphis. It was made possible by a $650,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human services.
East Arkansas Family Health Center currently operates five community health centers in West Memphis, Lepanto, Truman, Blytheville and now Helena-West Helena.
