John Dexter Braggs (“Peco”), 48, of Helena, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 29, 2012 at his home. He was born July 10, 1964 in Lake View, the son of the late Jerome and Ethel Braggs Jr. He was the ninth of 12 siblings. He accepted Christ in his life at the early age of 10 at the Old Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. Peco graduated from C. V. White High School. He worked at American Tools for over seven years until they went out of business. He also worked at NORAC for several years. Peco met no strangers, as everyone that came into contact with him loved him immediately. He had such a strong, sweet spirit and lived life full of humor and laughter. He had the spirit of a server and was always there for his elderly aunt. Three brothers, Lee Thelma Smith (Lillian), Cornelius Mayo and Calvin Smith preceded him in death. He will be forever missed by his seven wonderful children, Kiara Tate of Helena-West Helena, Terrance Braggs of Helena, John Beey Braggs of Arlington, Texas, Darien Hughes of the Naval Base in Great Lakes, Ill.; Cody Braggs of Arlington, Texas; Justice McNeil of Clarksdale, Miss. and Jon'Darius Braggs of Little Rock; eight siblings, LaFrance Smith (Becky) of Louisville, Ky.; Carolyn Smith of Louisville, Lamar Braggs (Adrianne) of Louisville, Jerome Braggs III (Ruth) of Memphis, Sherry Braggs of Wichita, Kansas; Hattie Campbell (Dennis) of Lithonia, Ga.; Dorbbie Terry (L.D.), and Mack Braggs of Lake View, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends whom he loves dearly. Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kincaid Funeral Services. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8 at New Haven Baptist Church. Rev. Jerome Braggs will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in Pilgrim's Rest Cemetery in Wabash. Arrangements are entrusted to Kincaid Funeral Services.
