Funeral services for Frances Vermandel McBride will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Church of The Living God. Overseer Michael Jenkins will officiate. Visitation will be Friday, Nov.16 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Little Rock. Frances Vermandel McBride was born in Little Rock on May 25, 1943 to Fred Freeman and Rosie Davis. She was raised in Little Rock where she attended St. Bartholomew High School graduating in 1961. She furthered her education by attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and later graduating from Philander Smith College in 1968. She worked at Southwestern Bell, Pacific Telephone Co., Alltel Telephone Co. and Wal-Mart as a switchboard operator. She also worked as a door greeter at Wal-Mart until her health failed. Frances accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church as a child. She was united in holy matrimony with William Crawford and to this union three children were born. She later united in holy matrimony with Paul McBride and to this union no children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory, four daughters, Erica Johnson of Louisville, Texas, Terri Crawford and Tracie Crawford of Helena-West Helena and Michelle Crawford of Robinsonville, Miss., a son-in-law, Sylvester Johnson, of Louisville, Texas, five grandsons, Christopher Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Steven Johnson, Chris Edwards and Anthony Sharpe Jr.; three granddaughters, Ashleigh Johnson, Arielle Johnson and Kaline Sharpe; and three great- grandchildren; Dallis Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Jr. and Kristen Edwards.
