Almost a year to the day of the 1st anniversary of Operation Delta Blues, the Helena-West Helena Police Department announced the launch of a public safety automation and modernization project that Police Chief Uless Wallace says will “radically transform the police department.”
Made possible by a $107,800 Delta Bridge Project grant, the project consists of a data quality audit, software installation, training and process consulting.
“Due to the city's high violent crime rate and the limited ability of the police department's paper crime reporting system, the need for improved operations has become increasingly critical,” stated Wallace. “The department first began pursuing this project more than four years ago.”
Wallace went onto say that the current level of crime in Helena-West Helena is a major barrier to community revitalization. The H-WH Mayor's Office, police department and the Delta Bridge Project have responded by implementing the Relativity Public Safety (RPS) System to securely and efficiently track all aspects of police work.
Relativity Inc. of Jonesboro is the system provider.
