  • Funeral services for the late Margarie Albert will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at St. Matthew M.B. Church. She will lie in state from 11 a.m. to noon followed by the funeral service. Pastor Tommy Stevenson will officiate.
    Visitation will be at Stephens Funeral Home on Friday, Aug. 10 from 2 to 6 p.m. p.m. Interment will be in Coffee Creek Cemetery in Marvell.
    Mrs. Margarie was born July 18, 1924 to the late Maebelle Johnson and Welton Davis in Oneida.
    Mrs. Margarie departed this life July 31, 2012 at 7:41 p.m. in the home of her daughter in Memphis. She married Joseph Albert Sr. on Dec 25, 1943. To this union eight children were born.
    She accepted Christ at an early age and after marriage she became a member of the St. Matthew M.B. Church where she was a faithful member and served on the Usher board until her health failed.
    She leaves to cherish her loving memory, four daughters, Dora Mayes, Betty (Jimmy) Hibbler, Mary Albert, and Brenda (Martin) Carruth all of Memphis; four sons, Joseph Albert Jr., and Johnny (Nancy) Albert, both of Marvell, Ellis (Joyce) Albert of Memphis and James (Fannie) Albert of Dallas; three sisters, Lillie Mae Coley of Diximore, Illinois, Geraldine (Jessie) Brimely of Menomone Falls, Wis., Lynetta Davis of Texas City, Texas; five brothers, Solomon Davis of Clearwater, Fla., Welton (Inez) Davis Jr., and Lawrence (Lelia) Davis of Lexa, Ulyseses (Mary) Davis and Wardell, both of Biloxi, Miss.; two sisters-in law, Texanna Albert of Marvell and Myrtle Scott of Flint, Mich.
    Three sisters and three brothers preceded her in death.
    She also leaves 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren, five great, great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
    Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
    Services are entrusted to Stephens Funeral Home.
