Born Nov. 17, 1925 in Helena, Nina Marguerite Hornor was preceded in death by her parents Robert Moore Hornor Sr. and Marguerite Nicholls Hornor and brother Robert Moore Hornor Jr. and his wife Janice and husband Bogan Nathaniel Gist III.

  • A wife, dear friend, sister, aunt, cousin, godmother and grandmother passed away Saturday, July, 28, 2012 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Born Nov. 17, 1925 in Helena, Nina Marguerite Hornor was preceded in death by her parents Robert Moore Hornor Sr. and Marguerite Nicholls Hornor and brother Robert Moore Hornor Jr. and his wife Janice and husband Bogan Nathaniel Gist III.
    Marguerite graduated from Helena High School in 1943. She attended Gulf Park College for Women in Gulfport, Miss. for 2 years and graduated from the University of Arkansas, a member of the Omega Chapter of the Chi Omega Sorority, in 1947.
    Marguerite married Bogan Nathaniel Gist III on June 19, 1948. They resided in Helena, Houston, Texas and Carrollton, Ga. Bogan died on July 3, 1991. Marguerite married Archie Boyd Corvin on Oct. 6, 2002 in Ontario, Calif.
    In Helena, Marguerite was a charter member of the Delta Cotillion Club and a charter member and the first president of the Jr. Auxiliary. She has been a long-standing and valued member of St. John's Episcopal Church of Helena.
    In Carrollton, Marguerite was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, the Carrollton Supper Club, Sunset Hills Country Club, Colonial Dames and the Lit-Mu Club. In Rancho Mirage, Calif. Marguerite was a member of the Palm Springs Museum of Art, the Red Hat Society and the Mission Hills Country Club. Marguerite was a longtime fan of tennis and travelled many times to the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Club in Wimbledon, England with dear friend Nancy F. Jeffett.
    Marguerite was pre-deceased by Pat Nicholls, Frank A. Jeffett, Virginia Gist Wright and William Park Wright Jr., and Caroline Curtis Bond.
    Marguerite leaves her husband Archie Boyd Corvin and stepson Tom Corvin, wife Lorrie and children, Ivy Lynn Corvin and Thomason King Corvin, stepson Tim Corvin, uncle James R. Nicholls and his children James R. Nicholls Jr., Fran Nicholls Tate and Nancy Nicholls Edens, cousin Frances Curtis Howe and her children Curtis Howe and his wife Elizabeth and Pace McCamy and her husband Jeff; and 7 grandchildren including Bogan McCamy, niece Virginia Wright Currey and husband Frederick G. Currey Jr. and their children. Laura Katherine Currey and Rebecca Marguerite Currey, niece Dana Russell Kurts, Nancy F. Jeffett, William F. Jeffett, Elizabeth Jeffett and her children Austin Smith and Katherine Marguerite Smith and many other dear relatives and friends.
    Services for Marguerite will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 625 Pecan St., Helena with burial to follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery, 11838 N. Holly St., Helena at the Hornor burial plot.
    Pallbearers are Rick Currey, Walter Morris, Bobby Nicholls, John King, Curtis Howe, Bogan McCamy and William Bond, Jr.
    A reception for family and friends will follow the burial at the Moore Hornor House, 323 Beech Street, Helena.
