Funeral services for Flowreen Sims will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16 at the First Baptist Church at Poplar Grove. Rev. Mose Tillmon will officiate. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery at Rondo.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 15 in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m.
Flowreen Sims born Oct. 16, 1930 in Lexa. She was the youngest of five children born to John and Florence Webster. Her mother Florence died when Flowreen was only five-years-old. Jannie Fletcher raised her along with her own six children, all who have preceded her in death.
Flowreen later moved to Poplar Grove and married the late Daniel Sims and to this union eight children were born.
Flowreen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poplar Grove and remained a faithful member until her illness prevented her from attending.
On Monday, June 4, 2012 an angel was dispatched to the Crestpark Retirement Home to bring a gentle soul home to be with the Lord.
Flowreen is preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Webster, her husband, Daniel Sims, her children, Florence, Daniel and Albert, siblings, Willie Bell Hughes, Truffer Wright, Heski Webster, John Webster and Lee Webster and sons-in-law, Sylvester, Isaac, Leroy and Willie.
She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory, four daughters, Williene Gibson, Louise McClain, Theola Thomas and Ulla Barber; a son, Arnette Sims; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Cora, Fannie and Namia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
