The Details:

A part of the Helena-West Helena business community since 1914, Southern Hardware Co. plans to invest $2.4 million and add 9 new employees in a coming expansion. Southern Hardware is a subsidiary of the Bostwick –Braun Co. of Toledo, Ohio. The company is 100 percent employee owned. It plans to expand and modernize its warehouse facility. The current facility serves a trade area of a 400-mile radius of Helena-West Helena and currently employs 62 workers, 48 in Helena-West Helena.

The Progress:

“Due to bad weather, construction is a few weeks behind schedule. In one to two weeks we should have all the footings and stemwalls poured. Then we will be ready for slab & building erection,” reported Dennis Delk, general contractor of Delk Associates.  The expansion construction started in November and is part of Governor Beebe’s plan to increase the economy and industry growth in  Arkansas and the Delta.
