The Helena-West Helena City Council will meet again tonight (Tuesday)  to continue discussions concerning reducing city’s debt.
The council has outlined several agenda items that include a treasurer’s report, code enforcement updates, whether or not the Second Saturday Event can have a permit for open container alcohol and Mayor Arnell Willis’ update on the search for a new police chief.
Councilman Jay Hollowell addressed the council last week about some budget items that included the acknowledgment from each member that the City of Helena West Helena is operating on a 2011 budget according to Resolution 9.
“I am not going to acknowledge that the city is operating on a budget for 2011. I just wanted to make my position clear,” commented Hollowell at last week’s council meeting.
Many opinions as to whether or not the city has an operating budget are expected to be aired at tonight’s council session. Mayor Willis is expected to preside over the meeting.
