A 22-year-old Helena-West Helena woman is dead after having been shot and a suspect is in custody in the Philips County Jail. The charges against the suspect are pending as the investigation continues.

 

A 22-year-old Helena-West Helena woman is dead after having been shot and a suspect is in custody in the Philips County Jail. The charges against the suspect are pending as the investigation continues.
Laquanta Henry died early Friday morning from a single gunshot wound to the face.  Helena-West Helena Police received a 911 call shortly after 2 a.m. advising them that a shooting had occurred and that the victim was outside a residence on Administration Avenue just off Perry Street extended.
When police arrived they found Henry's body inside a vehicle. Deputy County Coroner Eugene Handley pronounced Henry dead at the scene.
Henry's body was sent to the State Crime Lab in Little Rock for an autopsy.
A suspect was taken into custody for questioning and has been detained pending the results of the investigation, which is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Helena-West Helena Police Department.
