A 21-year-old Helena-West Helena man has been arrested after allegedly being involved in an armed robbery at Dollar General Store in the 200 block of North Sebastian last Thursday night.

 

A 21-year-old Helena-West Helena man has been arrested after allegedly being involved in an armed robbery at Dollar General Store in the 200 block of North Sebastian last Thursday night.
Police officers Jeremy Bramlett and Cortez Bowers responded to an aggravated robbery at Dollar General and after being given a description of the suspect, began their search.
The officers went in the direction the suspect ran. When they heard the sound of dogs barking at a shed behind a house in the area they went to investigate. The officers saw the shed door move and went inside and found Lawrence Hayes Jr. hiding in the shed. Hayes was armed with a handgun and wearing the clothing that had been described by the robbery victim.
Hayes was taken into custody and transported to the Phillips County Jail, where he is awaiting bond.
