Funeral services for Roosevelt "Tiny" Harris will be held at noon Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 at the True Vine M.B. Church in Helena-West Helena. The visitation will be held at Stephens Funeral Home tonight from noon to 6 p.m.
Roosevelt Harris was born Aug. 30, 1950 to Bertha Lee Harris in West Helena.
He accepted Christ at an early age. After returning home, he joined True Vine Baptist Church in Helena-West Helena. He loved his church and church family.
Roosevelt attended Eliza Miller High School. He joined the army on Jan. 17, 1972. PFC Roosevelt was a truck Master. He served in Germany. He left the military on honorable terms on Jan. 16, 1978. After the Army, he moved to Chicago. After being there, he was injured in a car wreck he returned home to Helena-West Helena.
He loved his family and his family loved him so much.
Roosevelt died January 21, 2011 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
His mother, Bertha Lee Harris, a sister, Annquetta Pitmon and grandmother, Maggie Lee Johnson, preceded Roosevelt in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Kelton Harris of Chicago; seven brothers, James Lee Harris of Mansfield, Ohio, Arthur Harris of Helena-West Helena, Willie (Dolly) Harris of Gary, Ind., Freddy (Erma-Molly) of Fort Smith, Alvin Pitmon of Spokane, Wash., Darnell Carter of Little Rock, Nelson (Earlene) Melvin of Little Rock; four sisters, Sandra Harris of Little Rock, Petty McGhee of Memphis, Machele Carter of Flint, Mich., Vernita Harris of Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, a great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment will be at the Jackson Memorial Gardens in Lexa.
Rev. Dr. Logan Hampton will officiate.
