Jessie James Bryant was born to the late Leroy and Priscilla Bryant on March 15, 1928 in Helena. He departed this life on Jan. 25, 2011 at Crestpark Nursing Home.

Jessie James Bryant was born to the late Leroy and Priscilla Bryant on March 15, 1928 in Helena. He departed this life on Jan. 25, 2011 at Crestpark Nursing Home.
Jessie James, as he was called, accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and later joined the New Light Baptist Church. He was united in holy matrimony to his wife, Mattie Bryant and to this union a son was born.
He spent his life in Helena where he was well liked in the community and where he did odd jobs helping the people that he knew.
Jessie leaves to mourn his passing, a son, James Bryant; a sister, Lebertha Burnett, both of Chicago; 16 grandchildren (Mattie, Anita, Nestery, Mattie, Tiffany and Lettie); grandsons (Malcolm, Antany and Teron), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
“Although I will be absent from your presence, I shall always remain in your hearts; just remember for the Lord give it and the Lord take it, blessed be the name of the Lord.”
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the New Light M.B. Church. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29 at the New Light M.B. Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
