Timothy Matthew Vernon, 49, formerly of Keokee, Va., went to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

He lived for a brief time in Keokee following his birth in Harlan, Ky. He resided in Scottsburg, Ind. for many of his early and young adult years, and had resided in Helena for the past eight years. He was produce manager for the Food Giant in Helena. Tim was a Christian.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Thelma Mae (Nichols) Vernon, and by a brother, Franklin Vernon.

He leaves his sisters, Delores Erskine of Littlestown, Pa., Shirley Kapeluch of North Cambria, Pa., Wanda  (Jean) McIntyre of Kensington, Md., Betty Sanchez of Gaithersburg, Md., Patricia Babbitt of Artemas, Pa., Christal Vernon of Scottsburg, Ind., Hazel Swick of Frederick, Md., Deena Norman of Barnesville, Ga. and Lisa Hollar of Brunswick, Md.; brothers, Noah Lee Vernon of Keokee, Clarence (C. J.) Vernon of Franklin, Ohio, Faris Vernon and Eric (Simon) Vernon of Scottsburg, Ind., Aaron  (Mark) Vernon of Batavia, Ohio, Dennis Vernon of Scottsburg, Ind. and Joseph Vernon of Salem, Ind.; 28 nieces and 28 nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7p.m. on Sunday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap, Va.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Eddie Clifton officiating.

Committal services will be conducted at 11a.m. on Monday at the American Legion
Cemetery. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Monday to go in procession to the cemetery.
