February 12 is the scheduled date for the upcoming Celebrity Art Auction hosted by the Arkansas Delta Arts Partnership (ADAP). Area community leaders are currently working with local artists to create a variety of art pieces that will be sold during a live auction. The works include paintings, pottery, and photography.
The auction is being held as a fundraiser for ADAP, a non-profit, tax-exempt organization with a mission to promote the arts in the Delta. Among community leaders who will be participating in this year’s fundraiser are: Sonny Paine, legendary radio announcer; George Bingham, host/producer of “In the Community with George Bingham;” C.W. Gatlin, legendary musician; Dr. Becky Hall, Director of the Delta Area Health Education Center; State Representative Clark Hall; Dr. Steven Murray, Chancellor of Phillips Community College; and civic leader Cathy Cunningham.
In addition to the artwork made by local celebrity artists, area artists will also be donating art for a silent auction. Vicki Cobb, owner of Cobblestone Studios, will be donating some of her pottery. Local art teacher/artist Elizabeth Hensley will be donating a painting, along with local artist Kathy Dulaney.
Tickets for the event are $15 and may be purchased at Main Street Helena, or by contacting Paula Oliver at 338-9144 or Susan Carter at 338-6474, ext. 1392.  All donations are tax-deductable.
