The Delta Riders Motorcycle Club has passed on a little holiday spirit to those in need.  Corine Borum and her family were chosen to receive a free turkey dinner that was donated by the Delta Riders.
The Delta Riders were originally established in 2003 and have done their share of donating throughout the community.
“We have donated our time helping those in need; raising funds with community barbecues, donating fans during the summer and being where we feel we are needed,” said Jimmy White, Delta Riders president.
Borum has lived in Phillips County since 1979 and attends Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. She is a true believer in counting your blessings.
“It’s really nice, I want to thank you (Delta Riders) you’d never think something like this would happen, it truly is a blessing,” said Borum.
Joseph Gshwend, a prospective member of the Delta Riders, believes that he made the right decision when he chose Corine’s family out of many possibilities. Gshwend met Elton Henry, Corine’s grandson, on commodity day after scouting for days throughout Lee and Phillips County, and briefly spoke to him about his family.
“He seemed very genuine and kind natured, someone who would truly be grateful for a donation like ours,” said Gshwend.
The turkey dinner includes everything of a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, from the turkey and stuffing, to the green vegetables, a sweet dessert and beverages.   The Delta Riders plan to provide another traditional dinner like this one for another family in need this Christmas.
“Because we are needed, we plan to continue giving these donations annually,” said White.
