Funeral services for Lillie Bridgemon, 86, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26 at the Springlake M.B. Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove No. 3 Cemetery.
Funeral services for Lillie Bridgemon, 86, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26 at the Springlake M.B. Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove No. 3 Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. tonight in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
Lillie Mae Bridgemon was born to the late Pastor Oscar Ards Sr. and Sarah Harris-Ards on Sept. 8, 1924 in Glenadora, Miss. She was raised in Crenshaw, Miss. She attended school and worked in the Mississippi for many years.
She confessed hope in Jesus Christ at an early age at the Spring Hill M.B. Church.
Mother Bridgemon moved to West Helena with her daughter in 2001. She joined St. Mary No.1 M.B. Church. She joined the Mother's Board and served until her health failed her.
She died Friday June 18, 2010 in Jackson, Miss. in the home of her daughter, Betty Jackson.
Her parents, 3 children, husband, Sam Bridgemon, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-children, 8 brothers and 4 sisters preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory, 4 sons Lenell (Lena Mae) Ballard of Sledge, Miss.; Willie C. (Minnie) Bridgemon of Darling, Miss.; Charles E. (Vanzetta) Bridgemon of Waukegan, Ill.; H.Leroy (Brenda) Bridgemon of North Chicago, Ill.; 3 daughters, Betty (James) Jackson of Jackson, Miss.; Essie McNeese and Dorothy Jackson of Helena-West Helena; a sister, Percy Mae Cooper of Evansville, Ind.; 87 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Vinatte Ards of Orlando, Fla. and Ida Mae Ards of Evansville; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
