Funeral services for Philander Rose Sr. will be held noon Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at the Twin City Church of Christ in Helena-West Helena. Visitation will be held at Stephens Funeral Home tonight from 4 to 7.
Philander (Snoot) Rose Sr. was born July 3, 1925 to the late John and Carrie Rose.  Philander departed this life on Feb. 21, 2010.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in the Trenton community.  He later re-dedicated his life to Christ.
He married Willie M. Newsome in 1948.  To this union five children were born.
He worked on the assembly line at Doughboy for 26 years.  He retired in 1991.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Earnett Rose Sr. and Christopher Rose; a daughter, Carrie Belle Rose; seven brothers, Theodore Sr., Johnny B., Aunte, Eddie and Willie Rose, Issac Thomas and Oscar Collier Sr.; three sisters, Genieva Knighton, Maudene Frencher and Fannie Rose.
He leaves to cherish his memory, eight sons, Philander Jr. (Tina), of Helena-West Helena, Nathaniel (Joyce) Memphis, Larry (Gayle), Alfonso (Toni), Raymond (Ray Evelyn) all of Little Rock, Charles (Willimena), Fred (Wilma), Alfred (Myrna) all of Conway; seven daughters, Marvella Rose of Milwaukee, Wis., Barbara (Morris) Paconma, Calif., Willene and Virginia of Memphis, Carolyn (Johnny) and Earnestine, both of Marvell and Sandra of Conway; a brother, Earnest Rose Sr. of Poplar Grove; three sisters, Alice Turner, Lillie M. Bridges and Ruby Turner, all of Chicago; 37 grandchildren,; 37 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and a loving and devoted caretaker, Tina Rose, his daughter-in-law.  
Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Trenton.
Repast will be held at Marvell High School.
Rev. W. R. Parks will officiate.
