Leon McChesney, 89, of Poplar Grover, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at his home.

Leon McChesney, 89, of Poplar Grover, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2009 at his home.  Mr. McChesney was born December 19, 1919 in Cairo, Ill. to the late M.B. McChesney and the late Lela Hillyard McChesney.  He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and retired from farming in Poplar Grove. 
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Dorotha McChesney; two sons, Gary McChesney and wife, Maureen, of Batesville and Perry McChesney and wife, Debbie, of Newark; a daughter, Carolyn Fehr of Poplar Grove; nine grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
His parents and two sisters, Inez McChesney and Loree Hill, preceded him in death.
Services will be held 3 p.m. today at Roller-Citizens.  Visitation will be held before the service from 1-3 p.m. at Roller-Citizens. 
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Helena-West Helena.  Brothers Charles Shipman and Rob Pelkey will officiate. 
Pallbearers are Billy Wayne McChesney, Doyle Simpkins, Dennis Bryant, John White, Charles Heard, Jim Igou, Tommy Taylor and Larry Howell.
