Twin City’s 15-under (Pony League) broke open a tense pitching duel in the sixth inning here Monday night  to defeat host Lonoke, 12-2, to capture a second straight district championship.

 

LONOKE – Twin City’s 15-under (Pony League) broke open a tense pitching duel in the sixth inning here Monday night  to defeat host Lonoke, 12-2, to capture a second straight district championship.
  “Jesse Lawson and Thomas Brown got the big hits that broke it open after we led 2-1,” manager Travis Williams said Tuesday.
   The victory qualified TC for a berth in the state tournament that begins July 17 at Pine Bluff.
   Lawson ripped a double driving in two runs, Brown hit a bases-clearing double that vaulted TC to a 7-1 lead.
   Lonoke got its other run on an inside-the-park homer.
   Tyler Moore went the distance in the seven-inning game, striking out 15 batters. Williams said that
while there were individual stars it took a team effort to defeat Lonoke twice in the tournament.
   Williams said District 7 was formerly Districts 7 and 8.
