Several additional Arkansas State troopers are spending a few days in the Helena-West Helena area to lend their support to local officers, wherever there is a need.
The extra troopers are providing supplemental patrols in the area for as long as the State Police can move police personnel into the area.
“This operation is nothing new,” reported Bill Sadler, public information officer for the ASP. “When officers can spare the time, they are often sent into various areas of the state to lend their support to the various police and sheriff’s departments.”
Sadler added that local police as well as the Phillips County Sheriff’s Department are aware that we are here to help the local police agencies whenever possible.
Sadler said that he’s not sure how long the officers will be in this area, possibly through the weekend or even through next week.
“It all depends on if we can spare them from their assigned areas,” he said.
