Helena-West Helena patrol and Criminal Investigation Division officers were kept busy Wednesday responding to reports of shooting incidents and shots being fired in several areas of town.
Lawrence Hayes Jr., 19 of Helena-West Helena, and two teenagers, ages 15 and 16, were arrested Wednesday afternoon following shooting incidents that occurred in the 300 block of Garland and the 200 block of Franklin street respectively. A third took place in the 200 block of Miller Street.
Officer Cortez Bowers apprehended Hayes. Hayes has been charged with committing a terroristic act and aggravated assault.
Hayes was allegedly shooting at several people on Baldwin.
A 15-year old Helena-West Helena youth was arrested around 3:30 p.m. for shooting at people in the Franklin Street area.
The juvenile was released to his parents’ custody.
Later Wednesday afternoon, a 16-year old was arrested on Miller Street and charged with possession of marijuana and crack cocaine.
Police received a call that someone in the Miller street area had a gun. When they arrived and began to check suspects they discovered the drugs on the 15-year-old suspect.
He also was released to his parent’s custody.
All three cases were turned over to CID detectives Michael B. Thomas and Chanta Mansfield.
