Funeral services for Shaffer announced.

Funeral Services for Tilida Mae Thomas-Shaffer will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Greater Power House COGIC in Helena-West Helena. Elder McArthur Dismuke will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight at Stephens Funeral Home.
Tilida Mae Thomas-Shaffer died Feb. 19, 2009 at her home with family at her bedside.  Mrs. Shaffer confessed Christ at the Christ Temple COGIC and she attended Miracle Temple.
She attended St. Mary’s and Lake View School Systems. She later met and married George (Doll) Thomas Jr. To that union 11 children were born.
Her husband, George Thomas Jr. and two sons, Lonnie and George Anthony Thomas, her parents, Lonnie and Susanna Carthan; a brother, Lonnie Carthan II; a sister, Leanna Carthan, preceded her in death.
She later met and married Oscie Shaffer. 
She leaves her husband Oscie; five sons, Jerry Thomas of Tacoma, Wash., Terry (Dora), Ronnie, Elton (Virginia), Thomas of Helena; five daughters, Brinola (Ken) of Kansas City, Kansas, Debra (Andrew) Johnson, Georgia (Sammie) Lonzo of Helena, Linda Combs of Little Rock, Pamela (Ricky) Flonary of Helena-West Helena; 13 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two special daughters, Shirley Key and Stephanie.  She has two sisters, Edna (James) Robinson of Mauldin, Mo. and Rose (Eddie) Arnett of St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Billie (Patricia) Carthan of Seattle, Wash. and Henry Carthan of Flint, Mich.; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends.
