One of two inmates who escaped from the Phillips County Jail Friday night turned himself into authorities later the same night.
The two inmates, Shannon Williams, who was being held for a parole violation and Cordell Robinson, who was serving a year’s sentence, escaped through an air condition vent. They tied a hose to a vent pipe in order to scale down the side of the jail walls.
Workmen had been busy making repairs to the air condition system on top of the jail earlier in the day and apparently failed to cover the vent pipe.
Robinson called and informed one of the deputies where he was and turned himself in.
If anyone has any information concerning to the whereabouts of Williams, please call Sheriff Ronnie White at 338-5555.
