Maybe they were a little overly anxious during Thursday’s final drills, but Helena Central head coach Russell Smith figures those jitters when end once his Cougars slam into the Paragould Rams tonight.

Maybe they were a little overly anxious during Thursday’s final drills, but Helena Central head coach Russell Smith figures those jitters when end once his Cougars slam into the Paragould Rams tonight.
Paragould comes into the 7:30 p.m. game with a 2-1 record in the 5A-East opener against Class 5A’s to-ranked (3-0) Cougars.
Smith’s defense enabled the Cougars to come from behind in the fourth period for a 14-all tie at West Memphis.
The pollsters agreed that the Cougars’ showing against a 6A team (nearly 7A if enrollment was slightly larger) was enough to remain at the top of 5A.
West Memphis also kept its top spot in 6A.
Turrell Williams answered the call when the offense was sputtering against the Blue Devils.
The Cougars averaged 34 points on offense, while yielding 14 a contest.
Central travels to Forrest City on Oct. 3 to take on the usually difficult Mustangs.
