Local newspaper to cease Thursday publication.

There’s a new World coming in October. Today marks the last day that the Daily World will publish a Thursday edition of the local newspaper.  A dramatic increase in newsprint and a declining advertising base has dictated that the newspaper cease a print copy on Thursdays.
However, The Daily World intends to keep its readers informed by partnering with our online edition to keep the news coming on a regular basis. Beginning in October, The World will publish a capsuled roundup of late breaking news stories and meetings that last too long to make our regular print publications on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Plans call for special online exclusive stories and all possible information on emergency situations that might affect the entire community. The online editions will contain some AP news content that does not appear in the local paper and some additional photos that space in the print copy might not allow.  Our online edition can be found at www.helena-arkansas.com.
Features such as Dear Abby and Dr. Gott may be added to the Web lineup in order that the readers can keep up with continuing story lines.
All the scrapbook news, such as school photos and news, promotions and other items people like to post on their refrigerator doors.
Come join us in October as we enter a brave new world.
