Funeral services for Green announced.
Funeral services for Nelson Green Jr., 63, of Helena will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the Phillips, Lee, Monroe and Desha District Center at Helena Crossing with Rev. Joe Greer officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove No. 3 Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight in the Robert Lee Brown Memorial Chapel.
Green was born on Dec. 7, 1945 to Nelson Green Sr. and Geneva Suggs in Helena. He died July 19, 2008 at his home.
He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at the St. Matthews A.M.E. Church.
Green was a graduate of the Eliza Miller High School Class of 1965. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a communications analyst.
His parents and all of his siblings, two sisters, Joanna and Betty Suggs, two brothers, Phillip Lane Suggs and John Green and a special aunt and uncle, Leona and Harry Barber, preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Nelson Green III (Roshundra) of Helena; three grandchildren, Ladarius Green, Idonesia Green of Marianna and Nelson Green IV of Robinsonville, Miss.; an uncle, Felton Barber of Mandara, Calif.; two special nephews, Dennis Banes (Jenny) of Helena and Dewayne Barber (Lavern) of Helena; a special sister-in-law, Lois Suggs of Helena; a long-time friend, Fannie Johnson of Helena; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Brown’s Home for Funerals Inc. will direct services.
