Willie D. Smith, 70, of Helena-West Helena, passed away March 31, 2013 in West Memphis. Willie David Smith was born on Feb. 7, 1943 to the late Henderson Smith, Sr. and Pearline Jones. He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and continued to be led by Christ in his daily endeavors. He was a member at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church for many years. Willie enjoyed watching TV and always kept to himself. He worked on the Wheeler's farm for over 40 years and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. His siblings, Leon Smith, Bennie Franklin Smith, Henry Smith, Robert Smith, Martha Ann Cooper, Zadie Parker and Henderson Smith Jr., preceded Willie in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Wanda Smith of Helena-West Helena; two daughters, Carolyn Smith Polk and Patricia Smith of Nashville, Tenn; a son, William Smith of New York; six brothers, Lewis (Magnolia) Smith of Chicago, Curley Homer Smith, Floyd Smith, Joseph (Marvalene) Smith, Simeon Smith and David Smith, all of Helena-West Helena; a sister, Katie Wadley of Chicago; five stepchildren, Stephanie Smith, Terrance Washington, Lakeisha Tose, Nakeisha Tose and Adrian Jones; three sisters-in-law, Patrica Smith, Marvalene Smith and Carolyn Williams. Willie also leaves the Wheeler family, who loved him dearly and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 5 at Kincaid Funeral Services. The funeral will be Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. in Kincaid Funeral Services auditorium. Rev. Noble Franklin will officiate. Burial will follow in Jackson Memorial Garden.
